April 2011 /July 2010 – LUVRA develops complex hydraulic systems for shipping loading arms down under.

Our team has been awarded the contract for the development of electro-hydraulic stations to control marine loading arms at project Gorgon Barrow Island (West Australia).

LUVRA delivers a complete electro-hydraulic solution for the 8 LNG- and 2 LPG- loading arms in the explosion proof area for Chevron Australia Pty Ltd.

The scope of delivery is:

  • 2 hydraulic power packs with 600 respectively 800 liter capacity;
    each hydraulic power pack with P =  2 x 15 kW (approx. 2 x 20 HP) electric motor (redundant systems), p max= 190 bar (19000 kPa) and Q= 2 x 36 l/min (2 x 9,5 gallon /minute) at 1430 rpm
  • 10 control units with IEC-Ex valve technology, piping and fitting in stainless steel 316 L
  • 40 control blocks, mounting on each of the two marine operation cylinders on the loading arm
  • 2 electrical cabinets with SPS (with the dimensions of 1200 x 2100 x 800 mm) for each of the 4 loading arms

The technical factory acceptance test of the components has been finished beginning of April 11 successfully.

Additional data is available from Jürgen Vrabitsch in connection of the electrical-hydraulical control  of the shipping loading arms.
